Mazingarbe

Mazingarbe

In this view, looking west from a British military cemetery on the Loos plain, Mazingarbe (identified by the central slagheap) is on the horizon some 4 kms away, with Vermelles a little to the right.

For much of 1916 and early 1917 the Heavies were in position amongst the mineworkings of Mazingarbe where they were frequently involved in shelling German positions on the eastern edge of the Loos plain.
