Thiescourt

Thiescourt

The Heavies continued their retreat in the face of the German advance and in the 24 hours from 1am on 25 March 1918, passing through Noyon and Suzoy reaching Thiescourt, 8 kms west of Noyon, in the early hours of 26 March 1918.

During this retreat, blocked roads, congested traffic and frequent sudden stops and starts placed a great strain on both men and horses.

In the course of the 25 March 1918 the Heavies column got split up and mixed with seige batteries, and it was not until 2am on 26 March that the last of the Battery had passed through Thiescourt marching towards Mareuil.
