Commemoration of the First World War, Exhibition at Bully-les-Mines, France, April 2016
The exhibition honouring the British army in Bully was formally opened on 22 April 2016 in the presence of the Mayor of Bully. Brian Bristow, grandson of Major Paris, thanked everyone who had contributed to such a magnificent exhibition and the people of Bully who had welcomed the British soldiers a century ago
The exhibition contained displays giving information on men from different units who had served at Bully, some of whom were buried in the town's cemetery. It also included photographs of wartime scenes and many objects from the battlefields and contemporary life.
The exhibition also contained a three-dimensional model, 5.5m x 3.6m, of the combat zone around Bully, shown below with Alain Chaupin (one of those responsible for its construction), Brian Bristow and a wall-sized photograph of the Officers and NCOs of the Hampstead Heavies.
